Ah yeh was a Good Friday

So with no pubs open and STILL no sign of my new *****ing laptop I was itchin for a live game on Good Friday. I was told of a €50 freezeout only about 30 miles from where I lived. The fact it was a freezout made me more inclined to check it out. So 3 of us headed off with only half an hour to get there. It was in a kind of church hall but was well laid out. 79 runners turned up so we were off. Just made it in time. I was at a table of locals who all seemed in good form and one of the guys i drove down was also there, he is a very very loose player who usually is doubled up early or gone bust (usually the latter !!). So the starting stack was a nice 8,000 and 30 min blinds..i was loving it, nice touch from the orgainisers. Starting blinds were 50/100 The first hand i won I had KJ in the BB, I called a raise from MP to 400, 3 players in the hand, flop came 10 high, i led out for about 600, one player folded and OR squinted and finally called, basically tellin me he had AK/AQ/AJ etc, turn brought a blank, i led for 1,400, he dwelled and finally folded. 2 oribits in a row it was limped `by 2 or 3 callers to my BB and both times i held AK and AQ and raised preflop and continuation bet after took down the pots.
A level later blinds were 100/200 I had 10 10 in the BB, about 4 limpers so i popped it up to 1,200 to play. Philip the loose player i gave a lift too called, all else folded. Flop came J high, i led for 1,500, he raised to 3,000. I decided to call, the turn brought a Q which also brought the 3rd heart to the board. I had the 10 of hearts, I checked he checked, I now knew it a heart came on the river i was probably winning as though he is aggressive he is also pedictable so he would bet with a pair and a flush or flush draw. The river was red but unfortunately a diamond but i still managed to push all in anyway. He dwelt for an eternity and finally said "That dam Q" and folded showing the J, he wasnt too happy to see my 10 10 "Oh fcuk dont show me that" (he later told me if it was anyone else at th table he would have called them but didnt want one of us bust out having to wait for a lift home- hmmm) he said he had J3...simple...dont play J feckin 3!

Its a few days since the tourney so i cant remember too many hands but my stack grew pretty steadily , there was one very big pot where i had to fold to a check raise where the board paired for a 30,000 pot. Anyway by the break I had about 27,000. I actually put myself on Tilt cause i counted my chips before the break and thought i had 40,000+ but when we returned i spent the next half an hour counting and recountin my chips, i actually only had about 27K caus eof this i wasnr really payin attention. I honestly believe i just miscounted the first time as they looked like they hadnt been touched but they werent in bags or anythin so its hard to know, either way this didnt help me make the worst call i think ive ever made sober. The blinds i think were 500/1000 (maybe more) I made a blinds steal from 1 off the Cut off with A 3 offsuit. I got 2 callers, the flop came A K x with 2 hearts, it was checked to me and i bet about half the pot. The SB player who is very cautious player goes all in and after him tellin me he has AK (i told him he cant do that but just left it at that) i STILL CALLED , he of course showed AK and i was down to 5 BB, i muttered something about "ah 1st is all worth playin for" before i called but i still cant figure out what i was thinking. I resigned to being knocked out as with just about 5 BB's i really hadnt much fold equity and as soon as i seen KJ i pushed , got 2 callers, Flop came K high and with a decent player bettin into the side pot I knew i had kicker problems, though the J on the turn convinced me i was back, and back i was. The guy bettin when i was all in had KQ so phew....

After that horiible fish call i decided no more actin the bollox, i had been giving another shot so no more bull. I picked up a few pots here and there and got myself back up to about 40K. The player to my right had a business card sayin "Vegas Baby" on it, i asked him where he got it and he pointed at the guy across from me and said he owns the site. It was Culchie from Boards.ie..savage, i had read alot of his posts and was good to meet another regular poster. I must have been his lucky charm that night as he caught a few suckout cards on me. Noteably about 5 hands later where he pushed all in frm EP, he had been at this alot , i wasnt sure if i liked it all the time as they blinds still werent huge but he got what he wanted most times with a foldy fold all around, until he does it and I have QQ, i actually didnt want to knock him out but i reraised all in to protect my hand. The call was for just less than half my stack. He turned over J 8 offsuit and said "I just hope i have live cards" , he wasnt happy to see QQ but by the turn he picked up a backdoor straight draw and when my 3rd Q hit it filled his straight. NH Luckily I still had about 25K

I was fine with the suckout as i had been lucky myself with the KJ vs KQ. Then i got moved table again (was moved about 7 times in the whole thing) I was sooo card dead, i had been raisin a lot on the other tables and now at this table they must have thought i was the tightest players, i hardly even completed the SB and most times it was my BB there was a raise and i folded.

Cant remember much till we were down to 2 tables. At this stage ya couldnt shut me up, I was talkin chit to anyone about to raise my BB from the button or SB, John (the guy who won a CPT event and has played at our tournament here a few times was at the table, we both loved to raise with garbage) was low stacked enough but not gone, I got caught raising with nothing 3 out of 3 times and the table were out to get me. One thing i hardly ever do now a days is let the SB limp into my BB, as long as there as no other limpers, nearly about 90 times out of 100 ill riase 3 or 4 x BB regardless of cards, i had been doing this to the guy in my SB about 3 times in a row and then finally i let him limp and then this happens, after i say "ok lets see a flop" , some players say "no raise??" to which he says "ah i wanted it that time", i had 68o. My phone rang at the same time so i said ok check it, flop came 4 7 9 with 2 clubs, he said check, I was on the phone and said "Ill ring ya back.. ok sorry eh....All in " I had him covered but after a while he decided to call with 8 4 of clubs for a pair and a flush draw, not a bad call, he hit the flush on the turn and i hit a now useless straight on the river.

Again nearly down to the felt until i pushed all in about 5 times and rebuily my stack to about 30K, i had over 100K at one stage which at the time i didnt know was 1/6th of the chips in play.

Anyway this fun hand happened which i was blessed in, there was a young fella new to our table with not a bad stack (about 50K) , now long later i wondered how the heck he had 1 chip, complete fish who would reraise an EP raiser All in and when the OR folded he would proudly show A2, KJ etc..not bluffin mind you, so it wouldnt be long before he was drinkin coke at the bar!! I pick up 10 10 , the blinds were now 2000/4000 , i had about 60K , the young A2 alliner limped, the guy to my right LIMPED , with my 10 10 and 14K in the middle i dont mind winning it there, esp from EP , so i thought about how much to raise, i made it 25K, half my stack , all folded to the young guy, who looked in pain and went all in.. he never even looked at my stack to see had i commited myself or anything, im pretty sure he was bluffin and i put him on something like K10 or K J, the guy to my right thought for ages and folded, i called in a shot..young lad turned over 77 and the guy to my right showed AK (phew) but he was out of the action, luckily as both an Ace and a King came by the river LOL and the young fella was gone busto (surprise!)

We FIANALLY made it to the final table, the bubble lasted about an hour, 1st place was $1,400, 2nd €700, €350, the rest i dunno...originally it was decided to only pay the top 7 but at the FT we agreed to take €100 of 1st and €0 of 2nd and pay everyone for makin it this far, the 1st hand was a beauty, I managed to draw the BB, the blinds were now about 3000/6000 (or possibly more) there was an all in frm EP, i decided to take a quick peek at my cards...QQ , he was all in for about 40K, the button called, i knew i was beatin him so i pushed all in for about 80K more, he decided to call, EP showed K 4 and button showed AQ , i won the lot and knocked two out, now i had a serious lead on everyone. John made it to final table as well with a nice stack afer e doubled up with his AA vs AK..sweet. Anyway we got down to 4 (after a load of bad beats being handed out to a few) I hadnt stole Johns BB once (he will push all in with garbage so i best have at least something), the fact i hadnt doen it ONCE made him repsect my preflop raise this time, he didnt know i had 43 o, he smooted called the raise, first card i seen was a 3 and i was happy, i threw in some trash talk about "Ah its one a those whoever bets this first takes it kinda flops, lucky one in first position", as the flop was all rags, i could tell he didnt know what to do, i had decided i was going all in UNLESS he went all in, even then i would seriously think of callin him as i truely felt i was winning, flop was 3 7 8r, he bet about 1/3 of his stack and finally folded to my all in, i flipped the hand over and there was some Oohh and Aaahs. Hand or 2 later blinds were 5,000/10,000 i raised 4 x BB with 88, Culchie (who usually dwells on most decisions) quickly moved all in, i wasnt sure what this meant but 4 handed i wasnt goin to drop this too easuly, i called, he showed AQ but rivered ANOTHER straight on me but had picked up a huge amont of outs by the turn, this didnt cripple me but it sure didnt help
Few hands later (i had about 200K) i made it 50K with A4o tryn to steal those valuable blinds , john went all in for another 20K on top, i called , he turned over 77 but i hit an Ace on the Turn and john was out

Culchie asked about a deal as we all had over 200K and with only 640K in play , so we took €700 each and played on for remaining 250 i think, this loosened up the player to my right who (for 1st time in TWO tables)decided now he couold start raising my BB , i had no problem reraising all in with 99 but he called very quick with K 7 !! Im a 70% favourite but not when the King hits straight away and im out, all in all great tournament, the lads that run is are sound lads and i was chattin to them at the break and stuff, nice lads and will go back again no prob !

Quick chat about it here
